Audley End Enchanted Railway Christmas Special 2026: What to Expect

Close-up of Father Christmas writing names on a parchment scroll with a feather quill at Audley End Enchanted Railway’s Christmas Special in Essex.

A train ride into the woods. Twinkling lights between the trees. A letter to Father Christmas ready to post. At Audley End Enchanted Railway’s Christmas Special, the journey is only the beginning.

If you’re planning a visit with your family, here’s a guide to the experiences you can look forward to in 2026.

Take the train to Father Christmas’s woodland village

Miniature train with blue engine and red carriages on a curved track beside a wooden shed decorated with icicles in a park.

Your Christmas adventure begins with a train ride through the Enchanted Forest. Look out for festive scenes along the way as you travel towards Father Christmas’s woodland village.

There, you’ll meet Father Christmas and Mother Christmas, along with their cheeky elves. Every child will receive a special gift to take home.

Follow the lights through Fulfen Forest

Night scene of leafless trees wrapped in red and warm white holiday lights with dangling red ornaments.

After your train journey, take time to explore Fulfen Forest. Follow the Christmas light trail through the woodland and stop for a family photograph at the Narnia-inspired photo opportunity.

You can also visit a small section of the Fairy and Elf Walk, where some familiar woodland residents will be celebrating Christmas in their festive homes.

Make reindeer food at the Craft Lodge

There’s a very important job for little visitors at the Craft Lodge: making reindeer food. Children can prepare their own to take home, ready to leave out for Father Christmas’s reindeer on Christmas Eve.

It’s one of those small Christmas rituals that carries the excitement of your visit all the way home.

Write a letter to Father Christmas

Young children writing letters to Father Christmas in a festive wooden lodge decorated with twinkling fairy lights at Audley End Enchanted Railway’s Christmas Special in Essex.

If your child has something they’d like Father Christmas to know, they can write him a letter during their visit. Once it’s ready, they can post it in our special Christmas post box.

Whether it contains a carefully written wish list or a picture from a little one who hasn’t learned to write yet, it’s their message to send.

Leave time to play

Christmas is exciting, and sometimes children simply need space to run around. Little Acorn Village and the Adventure Playground will be open for more exploring and play during your visit.

There will also be a Christmas stage show. We’ll share more about this year’s performance once the details are confirmed.

Fancy an extra festive treat?

Mother and daughter roast marshmallows over a park fire pit while a man watches in the background.

Families can toast marshmallows in Fulfen Forest or take a spin on the classic fairground carousel. Both activities cost extra, so you can decide on the day whether to add them to your visit.

Plan your Christmas visit

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus in red costumes ride a decorative red sleigh float among snow-dusted evergreen trees, at Audley End Railway.

Audley End Enchanted Railway’s Christmas Special runs from 21st November to 24th December 2026. Your ticket includes your Christmas train journey, meeting Father Christmas and Mother Christmas, a special gift for each child, and the woodland activities described above, apart from marshmallow toasting and the carousel.

You’re welcome to enjoy activities before or after your booked train ride. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your train departure to give yourself time to park, reach the site and pass through admissions.

Tickets must be booked in advance and won’t be available to buy on the day. Explore the Christmas Special and choose your train time.
